Modernization or innovation: which to choose?

In a constantly changing industrial context, manufacturing companies are faced with a strategic dilemma: to modernize their infrastructures or to innovate in depth? This conference offers a clear and concrete reflection on these two approaches, highlighting their advantages, limitations and, above all, their impact on the organization. Modernization allows us to improve what already exists by optimizing processes and integrating new technologies, but is it enough to ensure sustainable productivity? Innovation, on the other hand, implies more profound change, often risky, but necessary to differentiate oneself in the marketplace. Through concrete examples and applicable strategies, we'll see how to choose the best path for each company's reality, and how to implement it effectively. Between pragmatism and vision, this conference invites entrepreneurs and their teams to rethink their strategies to transform today's challenges into sustainable opportunities.

Aging spirits in oak barrels, technology at the service of the craftsman

Making barrel-aged spirits in Quebec's cold climate brings its own set of challenges in achieving high quality standards. For spirits to be of world-class quality, oak barrel storage conditions are essential to ensure that the spirit matures and achieves the desired complexity. In order to optimize available space, minimize handling and allow visitors access to the barrel warehouse, Distillerie Mitis has opted for an innovative design, rethought the way things are done and introduced some elements of automation. The conference will take you on a journey both into the world of spirits and into the design of the distillery, which aimed to combine production with agri-tourism to offer visitors a unique experience without impacting on manufacturing processes.

Recruitment and international mobility: Strategies for keeping foreign workers in employment

In recent years, international recruitment has become an essential solution for Quebec companies facing labor shortages. This process involves a number of stages, including the administrative and legal steps involved in immigration, as well as the renewal of workers. For some time now, companies have been facing additional challenges, particularly in connection with new government requirements. Izadora Leclerc, a regulated Canadian immigration consultant, will demystify all this at this conference. Among other things, she will discuss permanent residency opportunities, the differences between low and high wage earners, changes to the Quebec government's simplified processing, and sectors of activity little affected by the new measures. Groupe RM stands out by offering a complete approach to international recruitment, immigration and francization. Founded by Régis Michaud, this Quebec-based company offers turnkey services to help companies find, hire and integrate foreign workers. With partnerships in countries such as the Philippines and Madagascar, Groupe RM accompanies its customers every step of the way, from candidate selection to adaptation to the Quebec job market.

Refrigerants in Your Facilities and Regulations: What Should You Do?

In many industrial facilities, refrigerants play a crucial role in maintaining the temperatures required for production processes. However, most commonly used refrigerants have a high Global Warming Potential (GWP) and are subject to increasingly stringent regulations aimed at reducing their environmental impact. This presentation will explore the legal obligations related to refrigerants, the challenges of their sustainable use, and solutions for complying with regulations while preparing for a transition to lower-impact alternatives.

Benefits (or Not) of Having Your Own Electrical Team

Are there benefits to having an in-house team of electrical professionals, such as electricians, electrotechnicians, and electromechanics, within an industry? Or is it preferable to outsource this work to an electrical contractor? What are the best criteria for making this decision? In Quebec, electricians are divided into two categories: those in construction (CCQ) and those outside construction (Emploi Québec), each with specific skill sets. This conference will explore the decision-making criteria, the differences between these two profiles, the laws and regulations to follow, and the importance of preventive maintenance to avoid high long-term costs.
